A call to all artists.
I am teaching a 5 day plein air workshop in Sedona, Arizona October 30 to Nov 3, 2017. This is a great opportunity to paint in one of the most paintable locations in the United states. The orange and red of the mountains and the great trees are overwhelming. I looking forward to the trip. I hope you can join me for a wonderful week of painting.
The first morning we will start off with a demonstration . We will explore the countryside I will explain what I look for in a landscape painting. How to overcome the problems of changing light and weather condistions; how to set up an overcast painting versus a sunny painting. Some of the topics I will touch on are listed below. There will be lots of hands on experience lot of ideas and useful concepts. I will be working with each of you individually.

Creating color harmony.
Three types of compelling designs.
The importance of massing shapes.
Using edges to create the illusion of texture.
How to choose colors for under-painting.
Using organizational shapes
How to paint water
I will be demonstrating in pastel but oil painter are invited to participate.
